Slide THE DISCOURSE FROM FUTURE LEADERS THE 9 MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF compared with that of current leaders The discourse from the new generation includes more references to the collective and the common good. # The adjectives “public”, “climate”, “educational”, “global” and “social” are among the most often used by Future Leaders. # Health as a priority issue is only present in the conversation from Future Leaders. The mention of such important social structures as “education” and “health” is far more frequent among the new leaders. # The discourse from Future Leaders paints a picture of a more disciplined generation with a greater tendency towards action. Younger leaders use the verb “do” more often than the verb “say” (a tendency that is reversed among current leaders).

Slide Future Leaders mostly allude to the values of team-play. # Such words as “family”, “friends”, “love”, “team”, “support” and “people” form part of the top-50 most commonly alluded to concepts in their communications. # The semantic analysis confirms a strong orientation towards cooperation from the younger group. Such verbs as “help”, “share” and “participate” appear in much higher positions when compared with current leaders. # More passionate, more positive and, of course, more emotional. The use of emotional words is 45% more common in the discourse from Future Leaders.

Slide The term “thank you”, a ‘brand’ for the new generation. # Better positioned on the individual-community scale, new leaders show gratitude more often. # Expressions about digitalization are only present in the top-50 from Future Leaders. On the other hand, references to money and traditional political structures are exclusive to the generation of current leaders. # The new generation gives great importance to learning and understanding the world around them. Verbs such as “learn”, “find”, “know”, “search”, “understand” and “listen” are far more common in their public communications.

By applying the Big Five model and drawing a ‘photo-fit’ image, we see that they are extrovert and open people committed to the search for change in the world, responsible individuals with strong control of their emotions who have no fear of challenge and are not discouraged easily.
